Delivery

On the electrical side, our team delivered a complete installation that tied seamlessly into the school’s existing infrastructure. This included the installation of new submain containment through the existing school and running a new submain to the extension.

We supplied and installed new distribution boards with sub-metering dedicated to the extension, alongside a new fire alarm loop connected to the school’s existing system. To enhance safety and accessibility, we added access control, nurse call and refuge alarm systems, all integrated with existing panels. We also expanded the comms network with new data installation linked back to the main cabinet.

Energy-efficient LED lighting was installed throughout the extension, with absence control and daylight dimming in classrooms, while new ventilation and heating controls were put in place. The intruder alarm system was extended to ensure full coverage of the new building.

The mechanical installation focussed on installing a new Air Source Heat Pump to serve the whole building, supported by 20 HVR Zero APX Hybrid Ventilation Units. Heating pipework was provided to feed the Monodraught units via coils, distributing air through ceiling grills. The Monodraught system also has the option of providing heating or cooling functions, fed via the air source heat pump.

We installed new domestic pipework for the toilets and kitchen areas, along with sanitary ware throughout the extension. A new extract system was added within the toilet areas and smoke and fire dampers were fitted to meet compliance standards. To complete the works, new soil vent pipes were installed across the building.

Through careful coordination with WW Martin and the wider project team, we delivered a mechanical and electrical package that balances functionality, safety, and energy efficiency. The new extension now provides safe, sustainable, and adaptable spaces for staff and pupils, ensuring Whitfield Aspen School can continue to grow and meet the needs of its community.

Technology. Strategy. Impact. Delivered.
